Somewhere in northern Italy, in a factory isolated in the mountains, mysterious future travelers arrive. The government considers them immigrants, even though they speak the same language and come from the same region as the social workers who are supervising them. The social workers have the task of understanding their arrival and preventing them from leaving the reception centre. But they themselves feel lost, torn between their morals and their duty. Alice, racked by stress and overwhelmed by the amount of work to be done, Michele who falls slowly in love with a traveller, the director who buries her guilt by providing a garden for the travelers and Maurizio, a scientist lost in his own past… the whole organisation of the centre implodes when a government inspector with a violent attitude arrives.
